RSI aims to bring awareness of Adverse Childhood Experiences and trauma-responsive practices to the area’s Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) Programs including Childcare, Head Start, and Pre-K. We are working to better meet the needs of Southern Illinois’s children by creating coordination and alignment between the ECCE programs and K-12 systems.
The Springfield Resiliency Initiative Support leader will work in fostering a Partnership for Resilience between the Springfield Public School District 186 (SPS) and the Springfield Education Association (SEA) in creating and operating a network of trauma responsive schools. Under the umbrella of the “Springfield Resilience Initiative” (SRI) and SRI Steering Committee, the BBSS/SRI Support leader will assist teachers, administrators, staff, as well community partners in their efforts to create schools that allow children who have experienced adversity to thrive.
