DESCRIPTION:This workshop will discuss the myriad of challenges often faced by students in rural Southern Illinois. This interactive workshop will delve into the world of social determinants of health and will investigate up to date information related to difficulties such as poverty, housing stability, food security and lack of resources that students commonly face. This discussion will also address the intersection of adverse childhood experiences and these factors through the concept of the “invisible suitcase”.
