Dalyn Drown, Principal of Burr Oak School and Burr Oak Academy, and Brenda Bannor, the PfR’s health care consultant, presented the Partnership’s school-based health care work to 40 people attending the EverThrive conference on April 6, 2017. EverThrive is a non-profit organization that works to improve the health of women, children, and families over their lifespan through community engagement, partnerships, policy analysis, education, and advocacy.
The conference had as its theme “Uniting Voices, Creating Solutions.” Bannor and Drown provided an upbeat but honest assessment of the work to link Calumet Park schools with a range of health care services including dentistry, asthma care, vision care, and immunizations and physicals.
The conference keynote was delivered by another PfR leader, Sameer Vohra, MD, the Executive Director of the SIU School of Medicine Office of Population Science and Policy. Dr. Vohra, who is a member of the Partnership’s Steering Team, spoke about “Building a Regional Infrastructure for Illinois Children to Succeed.”
